France Bans Extremely Thin Models - Current Events

France has banned extremely thin models. This is my DLO summarizing the information I read, it also includes me and Fifita's opinion about the ban. I think this is a great opportunity for the models to live their own life.  

Ivory Trade Ban - China Current Events

In this activity we were looking at current events, in particular the ban of ivory in China. China is planning to ban ivory trades by the end of 2017. They are doing this because they are trying to prevent elephant extinction from happening. To ban ivory trades, they are closing down 24 factories and 128 shops. I feel as if this is a good thing, but at the same time a bad thing, since tons of people would lose their job. 

Current Events Olympic Spirit

 This is my current events DLO, this is based on the amazing actions of Nikki Hamblem and Abbey D'Agostino during their race. These two runners are very inspirational people and are amazing role models who showed us true sportsmanship.

The Big Sleepout

Today for reading we were looking at Current Events. We went back one month ago to talk about "The Big Sleepout," which was a charity raiser for the homeless who doesn't go with the basics everyday. For this charity, people had to sleep on cardboard/rough ground which made them have sore backs. Today I learnt people out there need just a simple coin which could change their life, including yours. I think people should be helping these homeless people because we're all human beings after all and we should be helping each other instead of competing with people. 

Current Events

This is my current events DLO. I had to choose a current event and answer all the questions given. I chose the article from NZ herald. This girl had poison ivy all over her face which made her eyes swollen.

Today, I was completing a can do. I chose the current events challenge. We had to find an article and answer the 5 w's and the h. I was reading an article on kiwi kids news called KFC creates nail polish you  can eat. 

Zahra and Nazella- I Fake Text - Current Events - Bus Driver and Public

Today we were exploring points of views, we learnt about bios (1 point of view). We then had to make an iFaketext to show the different sides of the public and the bus drivers. The bus drivers point of view is unsatisfied with the money and the breaks also the long hours. The public's point of view were unhappy and confused with what was happening with the buses. The public were also supportive with their point of views. It is imortant to look at the different sides of the stories/provocation because many people have different bias's, like Miss Donaldson told us about the three little pigs. The pigs point of view was that the wolf was a bad guy but the wolf's mother point of view was that they murdered her son so she thought the pigs were bad. 

Current Events About the Bus Strike

 

 Today the whole class looked at an article. It was about the bus strike that happened in February. We had to answer what happened, where, who, what, why and how. Also we had to answer why we think the authors are telling us about the bus strike. We had to make a group of what one group thinks about what happened and what one group thinks about what happened. I worked with Zahra, our LI is to find and summarie information about a current event.

 Today for reading can do's I also chose the current events. I went on Kiwi Kids News and found an article to write about. I had to read then answer the five w's in my own words.
